FJÖRĐUR AND LÁTRASTRÖND ON FOOT


Grenivík- Fjörđur - Keflavík- Látraströnd- Grenivík

Tourdates in July and August Travel in the wilderness of Fjörđur and Látraströnd. A four day-trip by foot through fantastic landscapes and desolate farmlands with local guides.

Day 1

(1 hour drive, 5 hours walk) Grenivík- Ţönglabakki.

Our journey starts at 13.00 I Grenivík. From the local school, we got to Gil in Leirdalsheiđi by car (one hours drive), from where the actual walks starts.
Crossing the river, Vesturá, we follow the path towards Ţönglabakki, the old church site in Ţorgeirsfjörđur, where we camp for the night.

Day 2

(4-6 hours walk) Ţönglabakki- Keflavík.

On the second day, we follow the path from Ţönglabakki over Botnsfjall to Keflavík. On Messuklettur, (a cliff overlooking the valley of Keflavík) we rest and then proceed to our campsite in Keflavík.

Day 3

(4-6 hours walk) Keflavík - Látur

From Keflavík we take on the Uxarskarđ- ridge on our way to Látraströnd. From the ridge we walk on to the Gjögur-peak (710 m) and enjoy the view over Eyjafjörđur. Then, we follow the path over Uxaskarđ to the campsite at Látur.

Day 4

(6-8 hours walk) Látur - Grenivík

The last day of the trip. We follow the coast of Látraströnd to Svínárnes. From there, a car takes us to Grenivík where we relax in the local swimming pool. Afterwards we enjoy a nice dinner.

Included in the price:

Food and table-service at campsites in Ţönglabakki, Keflavík and Látur.
Car to Fjörđur and from Svínárnes. Local guides.
Swimming pool and dinner in Grenivík after the trip.
Horses carry tents, sleeping bags and mattresses.

Note: Participants have to carry all other personal belongings.
For the Fjörđur - by hike, participants need to bring the following equipment: Tent, sleeping -bag and sleeping-pads. Warm clothes suitable for rain and wind. Warm underclothes. Cap and gloves.
